We had our Thanksgiving Dinner with the church ppl right after church Sunday morning. Dinners are always alot of work for me...I not only have to cook but also have to "prepare" my house( living room converts into dining area) since our fellowship hall was turned into a bedroom!!! There was a total of 29 at church and about 22 of them stayed for lunch so there was a houseful!! Karen was in the hospital so Doyle and I ended up with Clean-up duty by ourselves. It was a hectic day but sooo worth it. I love being able to fellowship with the people.
We have 2 men that are coming now on a pretty regular basis...PRAISE THE LORD!!! They seem to enjoy it so help us pray they will continue to come. Ms. Angie fell twice on the ice (not here on the church property)....Doyle told her he was gonna buy her a pair of Football Cleats!! She is such a blessing to us...pray for her safety this winter. The past 2 winters she has been on crutches because she would fall on the ice and hurt her hips/legs. Burdie is still in the hospital and praying she will be home for the Christmas Holidays. I visited her on Saturday and she was in good spirits even tho her other leg was now giving her problems. Angie called this evening and told me they had discovered another problem which could be very serious. Please pray for Burdie.
Well....Zack and Lily went home and we sure miss them. They have called several times and the mother told me that Lily woke up sick the other night and cried for "Sheri". The Mom also told me we could visit them. When CPS picked up Zack and Lily they brought us 2 new little girls ages 3 and 5. Jada and Charleze....Charleze is the 3 yr. old and has been VERY neglected medically. I don't know alot about their past but I can tell it has NOT been good. Charleze has sores all over her body and I took her to the Dr. today and got medicine for her. They both are very sweet...Jada, the 5 yr. old, talks alot. About an hour after they got here she ask me if I was a Grandma....I told her yes so she and Charleze both call me Grandma and call DOyle PaPPa. Now Lexi, the 2 yr. old we have, has started calling Doyle Pappa but she calls me Mama.
I tell you....these kids steal your heart VERY fast.!!!! Today the Caseworker for 2 of ours told me that she has NO HOMES for 50% of her caseload. Sad they have to be left where they are left alone 99% of the time to take care of themselves, along with being neglected medically and abused physically. Breaks my heart.
Pray for the work here and all the children that need someone to love them...........Sis. Sheri
